Whitton Electrical delivered a fire alarm replacement at Lithuania House in Pimlico, London, within an occupied multi-storey building. The project combined installation and commissioning with Lithuanian-language zone and device information and updated handover documentation for the client.
Installing replacement fire alarm equipment in a building that remains in use requires careful coordination. Access, existing equipment and connections to other building systems all need to be understood as the work progresses.
At Lithuania House, the project also needed to leave the client with information that was useful in day-to-day operation. Clear zone and device identification, supported by drawings and commissioning records, was an important part of the work.
Whitton Electrical installed and addressed the replacement devices, with additional detection in the stairwells. The works included coordination of specialist access and review of existing input and output functions associated with the fire alarm system.
These interfaces made the project more than a straightforward equipment swap. The team had to consider how the replacement installation related to the systems already serving the building, alongside the practical requirements of an occupied site.
Lithuanian-language text was applied to zones and devices. This was a specific part of the project’s operational brief, reflecting the people who would use the system and its information.
Device addressing and records were developed alongside the installation, helping connect the equipment on site with the documentation handed to the client.
Commissioning certificates were issued to the client in December 2025. Updated layout drawings and device information were also prepared as part of the handover process.
Those records provide a documented basis for ongoing management and future maintenance. They help carry the project beyond installation by giving the client information about what has been installed and how it is identified.
The Lithuania House project demonstrates Whitton Electrical’s experience of fire alarm replacement in an occupied organisational building. The work brought together replacement equipment, device identification, interface coordination, commissioning and handover documentation.
The project combined technical delivery with practical usability: a system installation supported by language-specific information and records for the client’s team.
Assessment of the existing installation, building use and handover requirements helps establish a practical installation and commissioning programme.
